Kinda like Vegas!

It's that time of the year again, the annual christmas office party happens in t-minus 3 hours on the very auspicious Friday the 13th! Never mind that we're only half way through November and throwing the tinsel and crackers around like its going out of fashion.

Auspicious day indeed! Talk by the water-cooler indicates that this year's function may be strongly boycott (that may have been started by me), sadly the lure of free food won the day and The Revolution with have be to televised on another day.

I guess i can find solace in the simple fact that someone or some people are gonna lose control of their facualties and provide the rest of us with some pure entertainment. At these functions, office discretions always seem to come to a head (thank thee alcohol, the get uninhibitor). Tears are shed, accusations are made, indecent proposals are proposed and laughter rings in everyones ears....or so i hope anyway.

This is the first ever "recession" Office Party, so i suspect it won't be as festive as previous years. The dodge venue is already a dead giveaway that all is not well (from a budget spend point of view).

Hopefully i will have lots to report come Monday morning next week, i'm still waiting for a situation to top my current favourite office party memory from my days of employers-gone-by that involved the company PA declaring very loudly that she suspected the CEO of being his front of everyone and then proceeding to chunda/throw-up in the corridor *awkward*.

Awww, memories!

What are your favourite office party memories? Holla in the comments!

In other news:

  1. Shirt-Off: Chick at work is wearing the same top as me and everyone in the office feels its their office-given obligation to notify me of this fact. Serves me right, that's what i get from shopping at Woolies :-)

  2. V is for ....: Only got to bed in the early am 'cause i got carried away watching True Blood, its like a very R Rated version of Twilight. HBO doesn't hold nothing back man. 2009 is definitely the year of the blood suckers and i'm definitely on this bandwagon.

I will be getting my New Moon on sometime next week, finishing the rest of True Blood over the weekend (hectic schedule permitting), checking out that Vampire Diaries and hopefully find a willing participant on whom to practice my love-biting on, am just saying.

  3. Crackberry: Can't put mine down, can't stop chatting, can't stop checking EVERYTHING. The madness must stop or i'm gonna lose friends and loved ones.

  4. Homesick *sigh*

Aaaah Xmas party - my memory of one was having one in February (i used to work in hotels in my former life) and the Head Chef serving food to the employees and asking for feedback - one very errr intoxicated concierge then told how awful the food was(though said guy's plate had been cleared!!) and how he hated the Head Chef's guts..the silence in the room was priceless..

Vimbai ka....all m going to do is copy n paste it in this comment box coz we all know that m taking this retirement very seriously this time round..tagged or not!

Crackberry addict..i now have to put mine away coz even over dinner i have the urge to just check everything!!

True Blood is the business, Im not ashamed to say it and am fiending for the next season.

They should put a clause in everyone's employment contract that what happens at the office party (a part from jail sentence criminal acts) can not be used against anyone the next day. Its always after these parties all of a sudden the secretary is either promoted or is suddenly let go.

@vim, on your possibly gay boss - I'm sure he's just in touch with his feminine side like Dr. Rey, or maybe he grew up in an environment with lots of females - why is your receptionist interested in his thinks she wants the boss man to lay her some pipe, and he might not be interested in her. think about it - who else has noticed his gayness? I'm thinking its only

office parties are usually career breakers - i'm hoping you never touch any alcohol, or that you are the type that falls asleep when drunk. otherwise, basa rinopera!

have a great weekend, and don't get too intoxicated by the silly season mood.

sekuru vaTawanda.
P.S. I now have a generator, so my leave of absence from your comments section because of 15hr powercuts is officially over.

Oh wow, its good to be back. Had been having trouble with blogger (as usual) hence no responding to comments. But i left that IE and am not on the Google Chrome ish, it's the future i tell you!

@shona: True blood is rivetting, why are HBO shows so violent and SEXY! As for the crackberry, yup, i need to hide it on most days or work won't get done.

I like your answers, esp 14, 15 and 28.

@Myne: Ooops, no i didn't vote..actually, i need to do the blogging rounds on the serious! So forgive me please!

@zimchic: I caught an episode of Oprah by mistake with mothers talking about how their sons got bullied at school and then committed suicide. It was deep and so not what i should have been watching after a hard day of work sha.

Kookie: "Fiending" the next season, i may just steal that expression, i like.

Confession time: I couldnt wait to get my hands on the next season and may have read up on all the episodes in Season 2 so far, yah i know, i suck, lol.

@Deedza: Am still waiting for you to holla :-)

@Sekuru: Was wondering where you had got too. Generators will change your life, those 15hr or 5 day power cuts are a killer...oh the memories of playing Scrabble by the candlelight!

@Lu: Have you already written the summer jam dedication, eish, i will wander over to your site and scope it out.

@Shona: Between you and munhu and the shaming me on my blog and twitter, i finally posted *big grin*
