Singin' Dem Hump Day Blues

Eish guys, today is dragging, this ama-bedroom-rainy weather is not conducive to work productivity! I'm really trying to keep it together but am failing dismally.

The only thing entertaining me immensely at the moment is hearing the bickering happening in the office cubicle next to mine! I have many gripes with open office plans, but today i see the plus side....ie hearing heated words exchanged! So unprofessional, yes, but extremely interesting to listen to.

What's the worst thing you've ever heard or "overhead" at work?

I think mine was hearing somebody fart, definitely the worst thing i've heard...or smelt at work, lol.

Eight is Enough...More Than Enough: I am so weakened, i'm sure you've all read the story of the woman in California who has given birth to octuplets...OCTUPLETS!

Guys, if you found out you or your significant other was knocked up with eight babies, chances are one of you would have to be heavily sedated for a while.

People freak out when there're twins, triplets, quadruplets even...but this is too far. Modern medicine is getting carried away, i appreciate they give hope to those who struggle to conceive but i'm beginning to suspect that healthy women are opting for it, so to conceive multiples which is quite the trend. Hollywood being at the centre of this trend...who isn't having twins?

Just think, less than 150 years ago on the African continent twins were seen as suspicious omens and killed at birth....now they're like little trophies, we've come a long, long way!

Dear John....I HEART YOU...like seriously!

My sister delivered the best news a girl could hear this week....John Mayer is coming to perform in SA this December! I literally started hyperventilating...seriously. I can't explain my intense love for this man, it rivals my feeling for Jigga.

Yes, John's love life is dubious and eish, man-whorish at best but you just gotta love the guy. His lyrics are so introspective, i own all 3 of his albums...was tempted to buy some DVD of his in concert, but now i get to watch him in person *sigh*

Now i have to devise a way in which to make sure he doesn't leave this continent without my carrying his lovechild :-) He needs to know that my body too is a wonderland, hahahahahahaha, i'm killing myself here.

The countdown begins...

Random digression: Ooooh, i saw my first lace-front weave live and direct the other day! Twas very, very realistic, but after i was told that it cost the wearer R6000/USD600 i was like, are you crazy...that much for a hair piece, you must be kidding me. I could go on holiday with that money...or buy myself a spiffy tv!

worst thing i've ever heard/seen... some not so clever PA printed a list of names (long list) on a public printer and she somehow forgot to collect the printed work. This list of names created a whole lot of commotion around the printing area. turns out the list of names were people about to be laid off....and all along management had been insistant that they will be no lay offs.

Worst thing I ever heard @ work??actually whilst working in the hotel industry *sigh, I miss that sector..*once heard a couple break-up, saw a naked guest roaming the hall-ways coz her boyfriend had locked her drunk self out...
Had a lace front last summer, it cost me 100GBP and getting another one from my gurl who went to China, so will rockin one this summer

First of all Vimbai this business about liking my men is getting out of hand mate.... Jay Z I don't mind because we both can't get him but John Mayer? That smooth vanilla morsel right there is roaming free still looking so please keep your hands at a respectable distance...you are allowed to collect a signature if said moment arises however...

There are very few people I would pay to see in concert, Jay Z I saw him nearly died from all the overflowing love I had and John Mayer I patiently wait....

Anyway moving on....lol my mum bless her heart choped big time re: octuplets (wish I had a recording) anyway she called me and said "Have you seen the Ok-oo-two-poo-lets?" had me rolling ...

As for the worst thing I have ever heard...in a land where time was not my friend I worked as a call centre chick providing info to the public. Anyway one of my male colleagues who by the way had a nervous tick and was also quite aggressive got annoyed at this old lady one day who just was not getting his instructions to get to this museum. Going against the whole idea of customer service he got frustrated and yelled at her " What the Fcuk do you want from me? I have given you the directions...what more do you want?". Ah yes the call centre days...I miss them...NOT!

Oh By the way girl spare a thought for those of us down under experiencing ama 44 degree heat wave weather.... I crave rain right now! 3 days already of this going on to our 4th...Im beginning to look like Nando's peri peri chicken over done...so much so I got mistaken for being a sudanese girl. Compliment from this white guy "You sudanese girls always have a lovely dark complexion"...ordinarily i would not mind but I started the week caramel reppin the SADC region...

Super: Heeeeeeeeeeeee, did the PA ended up on the list after that blunder, lol? I'm guessing you weren't on that list either, coz you ka, you need a job to cater for your expensive metro sexual lifestyle, hehehe.

Shona: 100GBP still sounds way more reasonable that USD600, but still waaaaay out of my range in the hair department range! Work that vhudzi/hair girl, and take ama-pictures too.

LOL @ drunk girl roaming around the hotel floor naked!

Funms: She must have used fertility drugs, coz then she's literally ovulating 4 - 8 eggs a month, lol. If she was Oprah-rich it wouldn't be such a story...but putting 8 kids through school, college etc, it's a DANGER!

K: Ah-ah-ah, who's claiming whose man now, lol. You can keep Jigga, i will put my money on John! Don't make me hurt you, hehehe.

Sha, its been raining for more than 24hrs non-stop now, last night i dreamt it was raining in my bedroom coz it was so freaking loud. Some blue skies would be lovely right now, lets trade.

A Nando's peri-peri chicken, you are crazy...sha now i'm hungry i want nandos too. But just remember, black is beautiful...the darker the berry, the sweeter the juice...oh and it's gonna take ages to get rid of your new-found tan :-)

@V, shaz strange things have been happening, but yes the lay offs are going ahead as planned. As for me, i quickly opened up other options. The city has not been the same- i know at this time i will probably get your "whatever comment" so i kindly refer you to " Dating a banker anonymous" maybe other gals opinions might suffice.
@k, damn i hate it when the call centre pple are rude, and then the fake accents...

Super: Jokes aside, i know this recession business is quite serious...have had friends with great jobs get laid off in various parts of the world, so here's hoping you don't get laid off and that those ama-options come through if trouble beckons :-)

As for that blog you refereed to...its both amusing and disturbing, such materialism, such....well materialism! Eish, i guess Madonna said it best, "'Cause we are living in a Material World, and im ma-Material girl."

Jozi has it's fair share of such chicks. I just don't get it though...i get the allure of power, money and prestige...but its all transitory if its not YOUR money, YOUR power, YOUR prestige. IT's like going along for a ride and not knowing which station you'll be kicked off on...and trust me, you'll be kicked off.

Investment bankers (or i-bankers as Daba calls it) are really great with the grand gestures, but that's all you gonna get. Now with this recession they're probably downgrading from their usual 5 mistresses to one - it's a sign of the times i tell you, lol.

Yep its serious buddy, we didn't even have a christmas party. But if you are from Zim then you know how to jingirisa (make a plan). it hasnt knocked on my doorstep ...yet!

as for the blog, i think they are simply being real. coz it happens all the time. You must realise that they are very few women out there who can actually hold a job, be ambitious(now drum beat coz here comes the clincher) and are HOT. thats just difficult to come by.

and you know what if they have the right combination they dont give as much love (wink!) as the materialistic gals do.

K thats the honest truth, walk into any office- and then walk in any mall then do the numbers.

Super: You are quite the firestarter with your glib statements shamwari. Firstly, i have no idea where you work, but my department is flooded with hotties, its quite annoying actually. So you best take that back..some of us just happen to be hot and smart, who'd have thunk?

And just to ask, have you met any one of significance at the mall lately?

K: Feel free to rip into Super :-)

I have to say I wonder about the women you meet, know or in fact work with. I even have to ask where in the world are you because obviously your interaction with the women in your sphere has lead you to conclude that its difficult to find an attractive, ambitious employed woman. Then again maybe your estimation of what constitutes ambition and attractiveness is rather high.....

Over the years the overwhelming statistic that for some reason remains unchanged is the fact that girls in school usually get better results, work harder and are accepted in to more universities than their male counterparts.

"It is well known that girls do better than boys in the GCSE, and that although the best boys begin to catch up at ‘A’ Level, in most subjects the girls are more than holding their own there as well. This is probably because teenage girls are better behaved at school, and work more conscientiously, and their IQ scores are often higher."

Then we girls older and are faced with different responsibilities than males i.e getting married we are normally the ones at home whereas men go to work and if the wife is working she is more than likely to arrange her work schedule to include family responsibilities before her husband has to. If as a woman we put our careers before our family we are lampooned in the media and by society. Furthermore lets not forget that glass ceiling that still exists in so many work arena's. In my field, the legal field the number of people climbing over the dead bodies are so many and when you are young, female and (this is where I toot my own horn) attractive you are not taken seriously or commonly mistaken for a legal secretary/receptionist before they even speak to you.

Another point I have a zim friend who has four sisters, she is doing her PHD in economics, her youngest is @ Monash Uni S.A doing her law degree, her eldest sisters are both wives and mothers...one works for Deloitte, the other after giving birth to her children taking time out from work as a nurse is now doing her masters in public health...ALL are hot in my estimation....

Superstar ka I await your apology because you have fired me up something fierce with that comment that's why I had to double check...

Clearly i have been misconstrued on a number of counts by stating what is bluntly clear for a lot males out there. K, heads up to your hard working ambitious frenz/relatives that YOU think are hot. Sadly the stats has them in the minority.

Its not simply my considered opinion dear frenz but an opinion shared by many males backed by glaring evidence:
1)the hot chick/s at the office that have the rare combination of beauty with brains lack personality. If they do have a personality it’s bastardised by feminist mantra.
2)The ambitious, hard working go-getter scores rather low on the HOT meter and is really cool people to hang with, but not to date especially in a world that glorifies Paris Hilton etc
3)The rise in the number of sororities’ that encourage the materialistic -gold digging getter is a sad indictment of growing demand, and readily willing supply. the success of dating sites such as sugar daddy.com and the rise of the mistress are good exhibits.
4)Whereas the ambitious & hot lass is pre-occupied on finding ways of how to safe the world, her rivalry's pre-occupation is finding ways of catering to a man's whim’s and plastic surgery. the consequence is pretty clear, for many men, safe the world with the former and frolic with the latter.
I am not saying its right but merely dissecting the society in which we live in, where people magazine far outsells the economist, vanity fair and national geography put together.

ohh was just going through my old comments and there u were, figured i'd check on you, you have been busy right:)

what R6000 for hair? oh i love my natural locks.

the 8 children is something, i would put all but one for addoption, that is just way too much for a person, well i am not even sure i want a kid, let alone 8.

@ superstar....aaahhhh it all comes clear now...thankful to my parents for sending me to school I have managed to translate your man speak:

1. What you said has not been misconstrued evidenced by your continual defence of your original argument i.e providing the reasons why YOU think there 1,2,3 combo of beauty, brains and professional ambition are lacking amongst females. Which I may point out you provided no evidence besides your own assumptions i.e because people magazine sells out the economist etc which lends itself to the argument that we are a celebrity obsessed society not to your argument

"shared by many males" is not convincing evidence as you have not spoken to every male nor provided any stats

In fact where are your stats concerning the ambitious, attractive, employed women of today? Excuse while I raise an eyebrow in complete disbelief that statistics actually exist out that support the theory the less attractive you are the more likely you are to be employed and ambitious...however I would not be surprised that someone actually wasted their time on such research when attractiveness as I said is relative since its based on individual tastes.

You speak of a rise in sororities..(Americans) I assume are your template in which case I feel tempted to stop this conversation now because if thats your gauge NO WONDER you view is somewhat skewed.

Paris Hilton although glorified for doing nothing has made a business and millions out of doing nothing. I believe in the business world you call it finding a niche market and capitalizing on it...I'm not a fan but she's more business than stupid

My favourite quote from your comment though relates to how those with the rare ability to have beauty, brains have a personality "bastardised by feminist mantra". Being a woman who has done a post grad in criminology I am particularly able to decipher most people's psyche by their actions if not their words. That quote right there but even more so your latest comment just tells me exactly where your head is at regarding women and as such now gracefully bow out of this argument because can't argue with a man that does not know better.

I have to think Super! is joking and trying to wind us up because the look on my face right about now is all WTF is this n*gro talking about...so really m thinking its a mere wind up!!!
K, thanx for telling me to come over here BUT boo, even u've gracefully bowed out of this one, so I won't even start none!
I'm one of those 'few' who have personality and beauty and brains..
My ex is a banker but let me say, what he brought to the table, I brought too..none ever felt one was doing more because he knew and still knows that I SHONA VIXEN daughter of my parents, GOT THIS!!Shuu, Super! kasi u forgot who u talking to on this spot?Vimbai, Kooksie and moi are all women who hold their fort(infact most women here on Blogville do hold it down!!), in all arenas so dude I suggest you apologise coz those were mahumbwe!!!Hmmmpf is still can't believe it....nah dude's playing girls...he has to...

@K.
1. OOne’s intellect is undisputed; evidence of ambition quite glaring but hotness is subjective. And in our particular debate the HOT meter is the privy of Guys- in the same way Jay and John Mayer's Hot meter is the privy of girls. My argument on this particular case is premised not on stats but by count of being male and therefore an authority. Furthermore, this being a topical issue amongst guys it is reasonable for me to assume a summary of the observations as i have clearly stated in the initial points above.
2. Quite contrary to your assertion that i have confined my argument to an American society, i talked about sorority=American, sugar daddy.com=uk, mistress=Africa. in my opinion that is highly representative.
3. As for your comments about Paris Hilton i totally agree. its the basis of my argument that the glorification of Paris Hilton has in turn perforated society's psyche into believing, intellect, ambition, job etc matters less than simply being HOT. If you put P. Hilton and C. Rice up for takes in MALE-ville, outside of George Bush Paris wins without trying.
4; the above say less about my opinions of women but more about my critique of the society we live in. we need to be honest enough about the sociological assumptions that underline our society. As a student of society i find blogs such as DABA fascinating not because i agree, but because i get to understand my society better.

Super: Eish dude, i still think you're being a firestarter and refuse to believe that you speaking on behalf of all mankind...that said, you are entitled to your own opinion albeit a warped and extremely controversial one...but still, its yours. Freedom of speech and all that jazz!

Although, nothing says "Hey, i was way off base" like a pair of Jimmy Choos if you feel like being contrite, which i doubt you do, lol.

Shona & K: Great fight ladies, i could feel the passion and fire there! I would definitely want you both in my corner if i was in a heated debate of some sort.

Shazza: Wow, its been a minute? What's good with you...although the answer to that is probably on your blog, which i will visit asap.

That octuplets story as further weakened me, according to CNN the woman already has 6 other children and her having 8 kids wasn't some in-vitro what-what treatment. 14 kids...14 kids...hahahaha, she has a football team with reserves/subs!
